Arrived hopeful that the change in weather and the forecast rain and storms might get the salmon moving, but when I saw how low the river was I immediately wished I’d put a trout rod in the car!
River very low with green slim in the stiller parts and hardly enough flow to swing a fly through.
Pleasant enough day though having a picnic with my better half.

Wet start with heavy rain in the early morning. Started strongly with chub and barbel both taking a pellet. Swim slowed down and switched to sweetcorn on a hair rig that kept the chub interested through the brightening day. Finished off with a decent barbel out of the Wyebank pool. Canoeists made their appearance from 10 and kept us amused/annoyed at regular intervals. Regular fallers, pushed them off the rocks and recovered paddles from the water....
Other was an eel caught on the edge of the slack water.

Good hatch and caught one WBT on a dry fly and one on a heavy hare’s ear in the faster water. Hooked a few other fish but didn’t get them to the net.

Started at lunch time after the morning rain.
River quite low now with most fish in the fast water.
Fished duo with most fish taking the #20 jig nymph.
