Very low water, very clear! I caught only one trout, but had a nice day :)

8 x trout 6-10 inches on Rusty Klinkhammer. A Friday evening on the Bideford Brook made a perfect antidote to a week spent stuck inside a classroom. It was tough going though, with very low, clear and slow moving water and spooky trout mostly on the pool tails. What saved the day was a strong hot wind, which actually produced a big ripple on several of the larger pools - most unusual on this sheltered stream. On running water or on still, for trout, sea trout or salmon, it's remarkable what you can get away with when the surface is rippled.

Fished 15:00-16:30 warm + bright sunshine - 5 wbt 5-6" all took #20 brown goldhead in faster water.

9 small, healthy wbt 4-8" all on a czech nymph fished duo under a klinkhamer. A couple of rises to the dry but missed. Fantastic couple of hours fishing.

6 x trout 6-9 inches, various dries. Fish seemed strangely spooky on my way up the stream this afternoon. Quite a few refusals. I was struggling, perhaps because of the low water conditions, or so I thought, and then I saw a fresh footprint in bank-side mud. Now I know for sure, since reading catch returns - JL from Bristol had done it just ahead of me and good luck to him!

Great couple of hours on this delightful little stream. Lots of trout about. Caught 3 TTs (tiny tiddlers) and one of about 8 inches all on a black emerger type thing (like a klink/hawthorn/Parachute hybrid).

Only fished between 11:30 and 1, one 5" WBT caught on pheasant tail nymph fished duo.

Warm sunny intervals. Low clear water. One feisty 6" WBT to dry mayfly, spent more time airborne than in the water! Several more pulls on GBHE. Only fished between 7:30-8.40.

Dry and wet fly. Water clear, mid-height, many small brookies. Strong sunlight. Low weed level. Access difficult without wading.
