Fished from 12-3 on a sunny and virtually windless day. The river was low and gin clear.
This was my first time on a wild stream beat and it took a while to work out how to tackle it, needless to say I spooked a few fish!
There was very little hatching but turning over a stone or two showed plenty of aquatic life.
In the end both fish came to an olive bead head nymph from the deeper pools.

A long day on the beat today , in the water at 7.00am and last cast at 7.30pm. Threw the kitchen sink at the fishing, but a nil return not unexpected with the conditions.
Saw a big shoal of Shad moving up through Little Run in the evening, clearly visible in the clear water and evening light.

Lovely evening on the beat although the river was pretty low for the time of year. Pleasure to meet the owners and see some of the work they have recently carried out.

One small WBT around 9 inches caught last thing before heading home on a small gold head nymph.

Beautiful spot will certainly be back after a splash of rain.

Low water, sunny day, beautiful stretch of river, and a great pleasure to be on the water. A few small fish rising but nothing would tempt them on to my line, dry or wet. "Nul points", as they say.

Another fine day for trout fishing, water .55m and light breeze. Fished wood stream first subsurface with a single goldhead haresear nymph size 12. Landed 3 nice size trout to three quarters of a pound. Gabe fished subsurface with march brown spider with no takes. Some very good trout rising up above in Chine Pool so switched to dry dark olive and landed a very good trout of one and a quarter pound. Could not get to some really good fish above in the very deep water by the chine.
Gabe had no luck at all despite fishing hard. All fish taken between 12 and 3.
Great day out!!!

A pleasant few hours in p.m. on bottom half of beat. River low and clear with slight grey tinge. Very quiet till about 6 p.m. when a few fish seen moving, but no surface activity. Just one silvery trout of about 8oz came to a nymph in a deep pool, but escaped the net.

Tough day of fishing with the river very low and clear and clear blue skies, with bright sun all day. Not exactly ideal conditions for spring fishing (other than for grannom). They weren't many grannom about and we scratched about for the odd rising fish, ending up with three in the net and another couple lost. Some nice water through the beat, although access through large sections is difficult with thick tree cover along the banks.
