A very tough day with bright sunshine and low clear river. Walked the beats from top to bottom with very little seen apart from the frequently jumping salmon. 4 of us fished wherever we couldn't see the bottom and all day caught only small chub under a pound and one barbel. Dusk produced another barbel.

Quiet in the morning. No fish at all on the surface. Very few showing during the afternoon but took 5 on a minnow gosling in sensible fishy looking spots (credit to Oliver Burch for that fly).

Love this beat . I caught 14 chub on waggler / corn from the middle of the downstream field and charlie has 12 chub and 2 barbel on meat and pellet feeder from the fast water.
Have to say that access ‘path’ to river could not be used as we would not been able to avoid damaging crops. Thanks to Wye and usk for helping with alternative access.
