Nil return. River very low, hardly clearing the falls at top of the beat, but also a bright day. Plenty of salmon par, but only encountered one trout rise, fish size less than 50mm. Lower part of beat best, due to the growth of brambles, it was necessary to wade long distances (lack of exit points). Slight interest in an Adams but gold head best.

What a delightful stretch of river this is, lots of likely looking spots, plenty of fly life, and fish rising sporadically throughout. Fishing the duo, Adams klinkhammer and a pheasant tail nymph, caught fish on both the dry fly and the nymph throughout the beat. Nothing bigger than 6inches landed, though lost a couple that felt a bit bigger, and lost count of the amount of salmon parr I caught. Already looking forward to my next go at this beat.

The river was very low and very clear but beautiful none the less. Every pool was dominated by Salmon Parr which beat the trout to the fly every time and left us a little frustrated. I suspect we would have seen more decent trout if we had been around in the evening. In the end we caught five Salmon Parr despite trying not to! Good news for Salmon stocks that there are so many parr in the river, but not so good for trying to catch Trout.

Plenty of splashy rises and a single fish in about 1 1/2hrs fishing. I just wanted to get a flavour of the beat. It was great.
