Like everywhere else , river level was very low ( 0.203m at Ross) and clear ,so it was going to be tough.Despite the rainfall, we could not find feeding fish and all the rain did was make the banks extremely slippery and dangerous.2 chub were caught and a couple lost , but no sign of barbel.Best chub at 5lb 1oz was a cracking fish.

This was all the more galling as at the start of the day I put an angler into a swim at the adjacent Home fishery and he caught 5 barbel, despite some broken ribs- he seemed a gun fisherman and decent guy.

I was very glad to leave the fishery before dark as the now very slippery steep track upto the main road was a real challenge to get up in a VW Passat. This was a shame as had I stayed on I may have contacted a barbel or 2.

Would I recommend this fishery to a friend ? Only when the river level is 0.5m or + and some colour in the water. The number of decent and accessible swims is very limited.

River low felt we should have caught more, tried dry fly first as a few fish rising. Then changed to nymphs and caught.
A very pleasant beat.

Fly tipping in the lay by and did not pick up litter as requested as it contained wet wipes and face coverings.

.....second day. Misty cool start but soon warmed up. Sunny and intermittent cloud cover. Fish were generally higher in the water and fly life apparent. Caught a few on weighted nymphs but switched to dry flies mid morning. Very productive and great fun. Various emerger patterns, F-fly, light coloured size 12, 14 seemed to bring the fish up along the disturbed glides. Wonderful last day to our two day excursion and very lucky with the weather. Stayed at the Owls B & B in Builth. Nice place, good breakfast.

First time on this beat and certainly a lot of water to explore. Only one small trout to show for it but enjoyed the quiet early autumn day
