Lots of smaller fish caught and a couple of good size all returned safely. Very nice pretty beat with mostly easy wading. No rise, quite windy but down and across worked well with a single olive nymph

Cracking day on the UK's premier coarse fishing river. Chub to 4.5Ib and a PB barbel of 8Ib 2oz, well chuffed. Weather was perfect and so was the fishing!

I think this beats fishes well, all things being equal, when it’s at about 1ft on the Llanstephan gauge as it was today; plenty of pools and riffles in play and not too tricky to wade. Only the one trout (just over 12”) but grayling were active all afternoon - 12 to hand up to 14”.
The day was marked by huge numbers of olives coming off at regular intervals, more than I’ve seen in a while, if not ever, on the Wye. Despite that nothing came to the surface; all fish fell to a team of two weighted nymphs, both shrimp patterns.

The river banks of the stream/gorge had A LOT of fallen trees down/across them. I consider myself pretty good at a river bank scrabble, but the path became impassible before we could even reach the river from the parking spot. I did manage to find river access via the footpath at the Crickadarn side, but even from there the river was pretty impassible within a few hundred yards both up and down stream. I should think it's a beautiful and exciting stream to fish, but currently the access was just too challenging.

Fished the lower to middle reaches, not an overwhelmingly productive day.
My brother caught his 1st fish and it happened to be the one and only barbel of the day at last knockings pushing 8lbs. Lovely stretch opposite the mansion houses.

Overcast, mild but breezy day. Frustratingly high amount of missed takes and lost fish! Great sport nonetheless. As appears to be the case with most other reports, all fish were to the gold head hares ear. A cracking couple of fish came from one of the fast flowing sections. This has always been a favourite beat of mine... Its just crying out BIG fish. One day maybe!

A few hours back at one of my old favourite beats marred only by two swimmers who decided to begin their journey in the pool I was fishing within the first 20 mins.
Now I remember why I avoid areas with public access !
