Fished from 11 to 2pm on the upper beat, ystrad side where I caught the 3 trout (2 x 1/2 lb and 1 x 1lb), then 2:30 to 5:30pm on the lower beat catching none. I was using beaded nymphs all day but did see a couple of rises. The water was very clear. Only the second time I'd used waders and found it very challenging as it warned on the website with rocks very slippy. Need to buy a wading staff I think! Lovely day though and hope to return.

Poor day. Never seen the Lugg so low. Saw 1 fish rise all day, which I managed to tempt and the subsequently lost.
New fencing in place which keeps the ever curious cattle at arms distance. Couple of new trees down, one right in the middle of my favourite winter trotting run. Bah!
All topped off by the 1inch tear in my waders.

Lovely afternoon and evening on the wonderful Wye. Canoe traffic and very bright/sunny conditions made the afternoon hard going. As others have said, dusk made all the difference. All fish came to large, hair rigged pellet variations and feeder tactics. Unfortunately lost several fish due to hook pulls but that's life.

Once again a fantastic time fishing the Wye and makes the travel worthwhile. Can't wait to return.
