River clear but perhaps a little high (0.53 at Climery) The bedrock is like walking over the tops of slate tiles stacked almost vertically :) Can be challenging and if you are unsure then a stick is advised.
Parking and access great. Clear path along the river but watch the wobbly stile :)
The Glaslyn pool offered the best fishing with easier casting and relatively solid standing, though as the helpful beat description advises, watch for the gravel sliding. It was here we landed our one Grayling just downstream of the pool to a bead head nymph.

One decent Brown Trout, who had forgotten it was out of season, safely returned but no Grayling. River had dropped and cleared quickly after previous night's rain. Good looking beat with plenty more to explore another time. Bedrock wading challenging but some lovely gravelly stretches.

Grayling caught trotting in the Orchard, with grayling also lost in the Home Catch. All returned.
Bagful of river litter removed, except for a really old leather hobnail boot, which looked just fine where it was. A great day out.

Fishing a maggot feeder we had the surprise grayling in the morning and the chub, around four pounds at dusk on a cheese paste hook bait. The water was brisk and coloured but by no means in flood considering the season.

The River was up and coloured. It looked ideal but I couldn't track down the grayling. Fished the float and small feeder and ended up with 6 small brownies.

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

River dropped below 1.3m on Buith gauge and very clear . Late afternoon session and soon found the fish , feeding dead maggots and trotting a single fake red maggot . Finished with 13 grayling including a few in the 1.5lb bracket , but as is often the case lost one at the net which was a good 2lbs . Fair few cormorants and gosander about and a couple of grayling appeared to have had close encounters with these predators.
