Bright, warm day with the reservoir very low. The concrete features at the top end were exposed. Had a great follow right up to my rod tip in the top end river mouth from a leviathan of a trout which in the end failed to commit but left an impressive wake!
Ended up with just the one of about 8" from the place where the stream comes in by the bridge pillars.
Lovely to be out in the wilds nonetheless. I still can't believe such a great fishery is only just over an hour from Bristol.

Arrived 11.30 am with the gauge at 0.72, having reached a peak of about 1.1 on the Thursday afternoon. Water was clearing and dropping, with a visibility of a couple of foot or so, but still some colour. It looked very promising. But it was not to be. Fished the Rock a couple of times through with a size 12 Bann Special then moved down to the lower half of the Wood Stream, to under the bridge and then the Bridge pool from the gauge steps. Switched to a Stoats Tail and ran through the Rock Pool a couple more times. I had expected to at least see some fish but nothing. I couldn't find a way through to the upper Rocks Pool but having had a good chat with Barry at the bridge he is cutting back the undergrowth after the last few strange months. I would have loved a fish but getting out on the river was such a tonic. Apart from practising my very rusty Spey casting, I loved the dippers, kingfishers and the hope, the hope....

Bright and sunny conditions after midweek rain had pushed the level up. River was very coloured at start of session with visibility down to a few murky brown inches. This improved as the day wore on and the level contined to drop. We had twelve good chub all on flavoured or standard luncheon meet though we did try the ubiquitous pellet. This is a lovely stretch of the Wye, will be back when it is running clear.

Arrived at just after 6am, the river was falling and around 0.8m at Ross. The water was still fairly coloured.
I decided to fish the wooded section, where under the water conditions, there was one fishable swim. The fishing was fairly slow throughout the day, and the canoe/inflatable and wake boarding traffic was pretty much non-stop until 6pm, most were courteous, but for a couple of groups I had to wind in.
During the main part of the day, I caught 3 Barbel, best around 7lb and one Chub.
During the evening the Chub started a small flurry of feeding, with a couple of them around the 5lb mark.
All fish were caught using a feeder and Halibut pellet as hook bait.
The evening time was lovely on this stretch, once the road and river traffic subsided.
Thank you again for the river access and an overall good days fishing.

First time here, a beautiful spot. The drive across from Bromyard and the views approaching the water are almost worth the trip in themselves. Met a pair of other anglers just stopping for lunch when I arrived who kindly gave me some tips and suggestions - thanks chaps if you're reading! Blustery, mixed skies, no fish rising, so chopped and changed a pair of wets walking slowly up the left hand side. Complete silence other than skylarks, a pair of cronking ravens and the sheep. Small black patterns with a flash of silver seemed to be the order of the day, catching around a dozen dark, hard fighting upland trout. The wind died and the clouds completely disappeared later in the evening. Was hoping this might precipitate some dry fly action, but instead the fish seemed to vanish. Made for lovely conditions for a picnic tea before the drive home though. Saw a bonus hen harrier on the way out too!
