Fished with Brian Skinner so please count this as his return. Water was nice fished the top pool on the boards then the gutter, didn't see anything. Fished the bridge pool next Brian caught a coloured hen fish of 9lb, on a black and red flying c. Fished the pool in front of the house both fly and spin but caught or saw nothing. Nice day all in all

1 x coloured cock fish, 32 inches, on size 8 Usk Grub from Dolmeudwy Pool. Thanks to Charles Tweedie of the syndicate, who was such a gentleman as to insist that I fish the pool down first. The Llanstephan gauge is on the blink today, but I guess it was about 1ft 2ins with a bit of colour, 0.97 on the NRW gauge.

First time on this beat. The valley and scenery is simply stunning. The river was lower than I was expecting after a week of rain and very clear. Started fishing around 2pm at the bottom of the beat with a french leader and single nymph through the faster water. Worked upstream ignoring the slower glides as they were shallow and I didn't see a fish rise all day. Managed 13 fish, best of which was a trout of about a pound and a half from just below the bridge. Most took a weighted nymph but I did manage to rise 3 to an olive emerger. The weather held and at times was glorious. Excellent day.

River a bit coloured with good flow following recent rain. Only saw 1 fish rise which I managed to catch on a size 16 rusty klinkhammer-9"wbt. 2 smaller wbt on gold head Hares Ear. Beat is very overgrown at present with lots of Himalayan Balsam making casting a real challenge.
