Intense but very brief March Brown hatch about 11am

River low and clear was not helped by a cloudless sky. Brief MB hatch and rise around 10.30 and then nothing else for rest of the day. Did manage a nice fish on an emerger.

First time on this beat. Only fished for an hour and a half and recced the rest. River pretty with some wild life - saw caddis moving about and some weed. Much of the stone was clear but some had slime cover. Euro nymphed and caught a lovely coloured fish about 10" in good condition. Talked to a friendly farmer who said fishing not so good recently and that fencing along the banks had made access to river impossible in places.

River quite quiet today, not much of a hatch or fish rising. Caught one on a speculative March Brown cripple and hooked 2 others on nymphs which got off before I could steer them into calmer water.

Not great conditions with a cold breeze, and had to work hard for the trout I managed to catch

WUF: Redbrook have put a new padlock on the gate preventing access. The hut also isn't able to be accessed due to another padlock - please update the beat description. Yet with the river in form, no fish, pulls or any sighted sadly - birdsong was perfect though :)
