Well some days are better than others and this was a good day!
The tally for the morning; 3 Shad, 2 Chub (largest weigh-netted at just shy of 7lb) and 1 WBT that came in at 3lb. All on a Black and Yellow Brass Tube-fly by local artisan Geoff Franks. I lost count of the ones I missed by mid-day, at one point it was a fish a cast but most of the Shad and smaller Trout couldn’t hang on to a #8 Double.
After lunch a Black/Gold Flying C accounted for 2 more Shad, a small Pike and, having hooked and lost 3 when they threw the single barbless, an 8lb Hen Salmon went downstream instead of airborne so I was able to net this one.
The Shad and Chub were taken in the Bridge Pool but all the Salmon were hooked in one short section at the top of the Creel.
I've attached one photo looking upstream to Bridge Pool from the left and another of the right bank area where the Salmon queue up in low water!

What a day! Mick the guide for the beat took me straight to the fish and following his instruction on tip, leader and fly. I landed a 12lbs cock fish slightly coloured, what a fight. All day I kept getting shad on salmon flies. To cap a great day I had a fresh sea lice salmon about 8lb on spinner. I asked Mick to have a fish and he landed a lovely salmon on fly about 9lb. Mick is a star and knows the beat like the back of his hand. Thanks Mick I will be back.

Four brown trout caught (2: 8"; 1: 7"; 1: 6"), two on a PTN and two on dry flies (Parachute Adams and a Soft-Hackle Dry Fly), using the duo method for some of these. The fishing was slow up to 11am, then more active up till around 3pm. Not many fish seen rising, but around the middle of the day fish could be drawn to the surface with a dry fly.

We arrived at 3.30pm with a nice breeze and a few foam lines running down the Llyn. My fishing pal took the Xmas tree side and I the soft side. Both of us used my own tied bibio, joey 2 butt and greenwell spider. I caught on my first cast and thought I was in for a bucket full but eventually had 9 to hand with a few long range releases as well. Watching my pal opposite land his first fish and slip on the bank and pirouette into the drink had me in stitches but on a serious note, could of been nasty......Be warned!!
We left at 9pm after 15 lovely wbt to hand between us all on wets. No rises seen all afternoon which surprised us.
This was my 3rd visit to Llyn Bugeilyn in a month and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute but will be going back to the rivers for the next month of so. Will hopefully visit at least once during the summer months.
Thanks WUF

Fish taken on nymphs - not much interest in dries. All fish returned. Please note that the access to the river near the bridge has been obstructed by a fence erected by builders. The nearest point of access is now down a lane off Station Road next to the council houses.
