A first visit to this beat for my son and myself - really enjoyed ourselves but could see that summer water levels would make life pretty challenging. One trout only which took a Greenwells Glory having tried a selection of nymphs

Despite the heavy rain of Saturday, river was clear, but it was running fast. Nymphing all the morning, no fish caught. Good hatch from 1,30 till 3pm, and managed to land 4 decent graylings with a dry fly. Once the hatch is finished, fishes stop raising too.

An excellent afternoons sport on Tal-y-Bont. Mild, overcast with light wind. You could not have asked for better conditions, with buzzer hatching all over the lake. The trout obliged, with many quality fish from 12 to 17 inches being caught on floating lines and long leaders. Most fish averaged around 14 inches (a pound).
