Another great day of sport on the Wye fishing was a bit more difficult than on other trips, but perseverance paid off. Fish Caught on a mixture of dries and small nymphs. Water very low and not many fish rising.

5 Trout, 33 Grayling

Beautiful beat. River very low, only fished in the morning. All fish caught using pellet wagler with 6mm banded halibut pellet. 14 chub to around 2lb.

9 Chub

Managed a few but a tough day and factors other than the fishing made for a frustrating day.

8 Barbel, 4 Chub

Fished am downstream, pm upstream. No catches to report. River low, heavy canoe traffic.

A lot of salmon keep jumping but no luck for me...

Still fishing as I write. Absolutely fuming, paid for the privilege of exclusivity on this beat only to be met with someone fishing the field above the house after our return from the wooded section. He seems to think that the villagers have rights to fish there... Well it isnt in the Wye and Usk documentation and a call to the police has left me with an incident number and a stretch paid for for exclusivity with the local villager fishing away.

I am booked on here in 2 weeks time and I am not looking forward to coming here now which has left a really bitter taste in my mouth. I expect a full refund from the Wye and Usk for this.

WUF Note : We have confirmed with the owner that there are NO fishing rights afforded to the village. The angler was poaching. Exclusivity is not guaranteed at Fownhope 5. The owner(s) reserve the right to fish although the rod is seldom used.

Great days fishing. Fish were caught on both dry fly and nymphs and all bar two from areas close to Llanstephan bridge.

4 Trout, 8 Grayling

Another short evening session . 2 Trout around 6 inches on a size 18 IOBO. I think tonight's fishing not helped by the Otter that swam past not 6 feet away in the bottom pool. At least he is helping with the Signal Crayfish!
