Really enjoyable day on this stretch with loads of water to explore and the barbel playing ball. Managed 10 fish in the end by wading out in the current touch ledgering. Met the owner who was a really pleasant chap and more than happy to spend a short while chatting. Many thanks.

Nice to be back on Sugwas Court, this is are second trip to this beat. Fishing was hard with bright sun shine and a low clear river, conditions weren't the best. Walked and fished the whole beat trying to locate fish. Managed to catch two 4lb chub and a pristine 6lb barbel. We had a great day, just wish conditions were a little better and we got amongst them.
Many thanks to WUF.

A lovely few hours on the water. As it was an interruption to our family holiday I had to be on my best behaviour and only stay until 1am! It was a shame as there were fish to be caught and quite a few fish sploshing when I tore myself away from the river. I fished the Crewil Pool and had a schoolie on my first cast, fishing a small tube fly. Then as it got really dark I switched to the Jambo and had a lot of interest. Only one fish stuck but it was a cracking 4lber that slammed the fly and gave a brilliant account of itself. I met some members who were very friendly and happy to share local advice - a very positive characteristic of the Llangadog club I have found. Would've loved to have fished through the rest of the night but the family would not have been impressed with me sleeping through a day of our holiday so did the decent thing and left early!

Fishing:Trout (River)

Nice varied beat but fish are easily spooked. Just fished late afternoon and evening, river height 0.3m at Brecon, bright morning but overcast sky afternoon onwards. Had 5 trout and lost several others. 3 on nymph (copper johns) all under the trees; then 2 on CDC dry flies during the last hour of the day (only time there was any targetable surface activity ). one fish was about a pound and a half rest about 3/4 pound all fighting fit . NB Dont believe a word re easy wading the gravel is currently covered in algae and like a skating rink - take a wading stick with you.
Whoever fishes this beat next needs to take some wd40 or oil - the lock on the gate is VERY STIFF and is difficult to open even when you have the right code. Nearly had to spend the night by the river! Also useful for people to know the code reads down from the top of the lock.

1 x slightly coloured cock salmon, 27 inches, on Bann Shrimp from the V at about 3 in the afternoon
(in between various flotillas of canoes). Many thanks to gillie Mick Sutton for his sage advice earlier and also for his hard work improving the access here. This beat used to be quite a jungle; now it's quite pleasant to get around the pools.
