Fished the beat this morning til 9am seen several fish showing 2 showed In the Maddox. Quite a few showing in the Vanstone & couple showed in the lines. Had small pike from the Vanstone. No luck with the salmon. Popped back this evening went down through the Maddox caught 16lb salmon on flying C only fished for 20 mins then packed up. Lovely beat well maintained easy access to pools. Enjoyable fishing.

10lb salmon caught at 1300hrs on fly 1/2" shrimpy tube Little Kitty. River at 2'6" brown spate.

10lb salmon caught in rising brown river at 11:30am. Upper General pool. Fly Cascade.

Few pleasant evening hours searching for rising fish. Unfortunately none found.

Fished 4-7pm surprisingly low and very clear. Fished lower half of beat, only saw three rises.

Nil return. Method fly during the day. Access great bank care recently trimmed. Water clear and low.

Think I've had enough of pulling up Himalayan balsam reckon it'll be good to get back to my local waters where the variety of rhododendrons, giant hogweed, Jap knotweed, signal crays, mink and Himalayan balsam are getting to be the "norm". if as requested in the last e.mail each visiting angler pulls up the Himalayan balsam near to where their fishing and reports any sightings of any of the above non native flora or fauna then the Wye and Usk doesn't have to become the "norm"
