Another lovely day fishing with plenty of fish all which fell to feeder and pellet tactics , did have a dabble with the float but no go. All of the fish were in pristine condition and fought hard, as said a lovely days fishing in beautiful surroundings!!!! Just one question.... Why are we not allowed access to the footpath from the carpark??? Perhaps somebody from the WUF could shed some light please.....

Fine weather but cooler today. Quite a strong cold upstream wind blowing all day. Again fished several locations but very little surface activity observed so reverted to downstream nymph fishing to take one small grayling.
Witnessed one very large salmon jump clear of the water some 400 metres downstream of Ty-Newydd fishing lodge.
Many thanks for arranging beat access for the two locations fished this week.

This is a stretch we've fished before so we knew it could be a challenge to get something out. Sure enough, it proved to be a bit of a challenge. Conditions were not so bad, water low , clear, and a bit sluggish . tried a variety of swims with pellet/feeder tactics and only had one bite and one barbel to 8lb3 oz right at the last cast. This stretch fishes better with a bit of a push of water through it and a bit of colour. We will be back .

Nice day except for the gusty upstream wind, temperature good for this time of the year so plenty of hatches, mainly upwings. 2 small WBT caught on a size 18 cdc emerger and made
all the more enjoyable as they were taken on a fabulous Luke Bannister cane rod! Perfect for a river like this and already looking forward to next year!

We appreciated that we were making the most of the superb autumn weather by fishing on the Wye and catching 6 barbel to 7lb 12oz and 11 chub from the lower end of the beat was a bonus. River getting very low and in need of rain, how's that for spoiling things?

Conditions unchanged, 2 fished the wood area and landed 1 barbel of 8.4, on pellet. The other 2 were more successful on the lower section landing 3 barbel of 4.8, 7.4 and 7.12,
on pellet, with 2 barbel and one chub lost in snags.
A difficult day in the wood but, again, very enjoyable.

A blank day. Fished various dries, terrestrials, over the mid day period. Never mind, wonderful weather for the time of year!

My annual pilgrimage to the upper Wye on a beautiful, golden autumn day found the river low and quite clear. This is a beat I have not fished before and was surprised at the easy access. In saying that, however, great care is needed when wading over the rounded, slimy stones before reaching gravel bars from whence casting is easier. I had an impromptu bath and bruised my arm so beware! I found fish in the white water fishing across and down with black spiders. I did not have any luck elsewhere using klink and dink or dry fly. Nonetheless it would be difficult not to enjoy this majestic river and its environs and I'll be back next year for more of the same.

A beautiful day to be on the river, and 6 brownies to hand all between 10 and 12". The water level was low and clear but fish were showing now and again for most of the day. Took the first fish on an Olive Klink in the faster water but the rest were with a Waterhen Bloa fished high in the surface film to trout sipping in the small surface flies trickling down the beat.
