Wash-off. Arrived at approx. 9am and the river was up and coloured after a few days rain. Probably only needed a dry day prior and it would've been spot on.
Cracking spot though and the river looks like it would be incredible in the right conditions, and excellent scenery surrounding - looking forward to going back.

Fished the middle part of the beat, where there is respite from the faster water conditions. Caught 2 barbel to 6lb-14oz and 3 average size chub. Lashing 30 minute rainstorms at 4pm and 6pm had the water turning brown / red with so much mud going into the river. The river is probably too murky for really good fishing at the moment, so fairly pleased to catch a few fish.

River coloured but quite a few trout seen. One salmon that had been in the river some time made a fleeting appearance.

A blustery day with rain showers made for hard going. Two rainbows were taken on traditional wet flies. Two small perch also took the fly. All returned in good condition. Shocking amount of litter on the shore of the small bay near the car park, and someone had bbqd a rainbow on a fire. Two other anglers told me there were bailiffs on the water. It was hard to believe. I picked up most of the litter.

Another opening day disappointment. Unfortunately the river was not in good condition following the rain storms in Wales over the last couple of days. River was very brown and once fishing we also discovered there was a lot of debris coming down the river making presentation hard. The river was also rising through the day. We reckon it rose around a foot through the course of the day. We tried 4 swims starting at the top end in the wyebank run ending up in the bottom pool. Unfortunately the bottom pool where we really wanted to concentrate our efforts was the hardest to fish. The water was fast down there and coupled with the debris coming down, it was impossible to present a bait correctly even in the inside crease. We also lost several leads/feeders to snags. We ended up going back to top end and spent a couple of hours trotting then the last couple of hours back on the lead/feeder.
Alas the pair of us never had a bite all day let alone a fish. We reckon we fished it as best as we could with varying methods and baits.
On the upside I would like to thank Don, the owner for his help both via email and at the fishery this morning. His advice was highly appreciated and he is a really nice guy to talk to. Although today I don't think any amount of advice would have reaped reward given the river condition. Roll on next week for our next session and the hope of a better condition river.

Great to be back on this jewel. The road has not improved and definately needs the 4X4 to get down that long track. Arrived around 10 am and was straight into action with 3 fish on 3 casts! Fish were rising everywhere and took the black gnat with confidence. Soon the rise petered out but there were occasional risers all day. Hampered by extremely heavy rain storms during the day but as always, a great day of fun in amazing country. Retired content to the pub at 6pm. Thank you WUF.

The sharp showers of the previous few days meant that I arrived to find the the river well above normal summer levels and chocolate brown in colour. I was not able to fish my favoured far bank run due to the flow and settled for a more comfortable mid river. Fortunately the fish still managed to find my bait and I was pleased with a Barbel of 7lb 8ozs which was followed by some good Chub to 4lb 6ozs then a small Barbel of about 2lb. I had decided on an early start so that I could finish around mid-day and return home to catch the football. At 11:30 I made that final last cast before packing up and within a few minutes the rod sprang to life from a characteristic Barbel bite. After a few powerful runs I knew I had a special fish attached. At a fraction over 10lbs it turned out to be only my second ever Wye double. What a start to the season!

Tough conditions today, a rising river and a lot of debris washing through, forced me to fish under the rod tip in Legg Meadow. The result was a single bite and a single barbel landed. However, the barbel weighed 10lb 2oz! My first Wye double! I've fished this beat for eight years and caught somewhere between 300 and 350 barbel in this time, so to finally get a 10lb+ fish is just great. And on June 16th too! A day I wont soon forget. Great beat, fantastic fishing. Back in a few weeks.
