River had fallen more than expected. Clear and bright so very tough day. Fished both sites. So tricky to get it right here so will be back hopefully with more water, warmer and cloudier. All caught on Adams.

5 Trout

Fished for about 5 hours on a reasonably mild and overcast day with the sun breaking through later in the session. 11 mostly small trout caught on a PT nymph fished underneath a Klinkhammer. There were a handful of mayflies hatching as the afternoon went on with a few fish rising for them. I also saw what looked like a mink entering the water opposite me in the second field upstream, shortly followed by two large splashes against the bank right next to me (presumably from the mink).
Access not too difficult although there are a couple of trees across the river on this beat.

1 Trout

Bright sunshine. I struggled to re-adjust to “big river” tactics after so much time on the wild streams this season. The first two fish to take my flies felt like monsters, they were, they took off down stream, did acrobatics and shook off my barbless hooks with relative ease. Plenty of interest later in a Blonde Wulff but I only managed to bring two to hand the best of which was a 9” fish from Farm Pool.

Met a very nice man weedkilling at bottom of beat - I think he owns the adjacent private land and is a keen fisher. He gave me excellent advice on profitable lies - where Olchon enters, stretch opposite to camping field, 2 wide bends higher up. Stretches between can be largely dead. Good hatch of olives and fish rising - several raised and missed. Lovely stretch, different to upper beat, enjoyable day.

Odd fly coming off. 2 x 1.5lbs grayling to deep nymphing. trout very small .

3 Trout, 2 Grayling

A good day on this very nice beat. The water was slightly colored and dropping throughout the day. Three fish caught all around the pound to pound and a half size. All taken on a pale watery dry fly. Look forward to returning.

Great Beat with nice variety of water, easy wading with good access in and out of water. Mostly bright and dry but gusty downstream breeze on and off.
Plenty rising until late morning then suddenly switched off when conditions became overcast. Warmed up again mid afternoon and clouds of tiny midges appeared, although didn't bother me or the fish. Fish suddenly came on with 2 8-9 inch brownies in quick succession and 2 more "on and off" before I even saw them! Another dropped off as it came to hand before the temperature dropped and a stiff wind sprang up. All WBT and all around the same stamp. Great days' sport in a beautiful setting.

2 Trout

First foray at this idyllic wild lake , fished fifty yards either side of the boathouse from between midday and six in the evening , sporadic rises , and the fiesty little, famed Welsh black finned brown trout took my dry flies with splashy takes , quick as a flash , did manage to bank eleven beautiful trout and quickly released, caught on own home tied coch-y-bonddu dry variant , and tiny size 18 Adams , missed probably as many as I caught, was an excellent six hours, shall definitely be returning very soon to see how the evening rise goes.The track down to the boathouse was manageable by 4x4 truck , but probably a bit hairy for a car, with the clearance in places a bit risky.
