Difficult day. Lots of weed coming down the river and only 3 chub late on saving the day.

Fished on an evening ticket from the bridge downstream. I fished with dries (Adams, Tups, Greenwell's) and then nymphs (GHHE, GRHE, stonefly) and Dad with winged wets. Only one rise and two plucks.

Conditions were incredibly variable, heavy showers and scorching sun. Fished on the right bank with my nine year old son. The river here is rather featureless, for the coarse angler the stretch is even shorter than its boundary since the lower section turns into rapids.
Otherwise the river seems to be uniformly 3-4 feet across with abundant streamer weed. There are plenty of fish between the weeds, but the snags (weed) made things a little tedious.
Hooked fish on pellet, corn and meat (legered, both with and without a feeder), lost a couple to poor hook holds but the odd feature of our bag was the size, we had one barbel at around 4lb, two at 2lb and one around 12oz, even the chub was under a pound!
We didn't stay long, the constant snagging and being cramped because we needed to sit together made it a little frustrating on the day along with the weather and the canoes, who behaved fine but because we were somewhat hidden amongst vegetation it meant we had to keep our ears open for them and then jump up and ask them to avoid our lines.
No complaints with the stretch, a lone angler with possibly beefed-up gear will catch barbel all day.

Plenty of sedges and fly life generally but very few fish moving and the few that I saw were easily spooked. Fished into the evening and changed tactics to dragging a biblio across the surface which produced a flurry of takes for about half an hour. I must have lost 6 or 7 before I finally brought a fish of about a pound to hand.

No fish today. The conditions are very tough with a lot of vegetation and low flows.

Good Days fishing on this beat. We both had a nice day and caught 8 Barbel and 15 Chub. The weather was perfect, overcast and a little bit of wind to keep us cool. Met and spoke to Colin again who was very helpful. Can't wait for our next visit in October.

Nice day, very slow in places. Fish seemed a bit spooky. Had 5 barbel to about 7lb and 3 chub. All taken on feeder/pellet. A lot of canoe traffic. Fish caught steadily through the day.

Low water - 10" on the gauge at Llanstephan. I fished Lady Alexander's Catch with a silver stoat's tail on a floating line and hooked a decent trout on my second cast (1lb, returned).
A salmon was splashing further up Edw pool but not within the beat. A grilse ran up the stream below Edw pool, jumping once as I was changing my fly. I fished Lady Alex's again with a cascade, catching more trout, which were returned. I stripped a sunray shadow across the middle and tail of the pool, trout slapped at it, but there was no interest from any salmon.
A kingfisher fished below me. A great sight. I then turned to the dry fly and fished the tail of the pool with a grey sedge for trout that were very active, sipping wantonly. Great sport. More trout caught and returned.
At twilight, I fished the head of the pool again, hooking a hard fighting trout of 1.5lb in the fast water.
Then I heard a big tantalising splash as a salmon hit the water just at the edge of the current below a rock. It may have been a running fish: I covered the area again and again, with no response. I was fishing in almost total darkness and my wading and fishing options were accordingly limited. Perhaps a slow sinking line in the belly of the pool might have yielded a take. Another time...
