Hare's ear nymph.River very fast flowing. No fish taken but the river looked promising, perhaps my imitations were not at the right depth? Saw a kingfisher, dipper and wagtails. Some dark insect hatch, but a little cold.

Cold and strong downstream wind, rain and hail. Even so a very few olives hatching and one or two fish moving. 3 fish all on weighted nymph fished as deep as possible. Best fish was about 2lb, a lovely fish, returned of course.

Sneaked 45 minutes on the brook at lunchtime - my first time here this season and it has changed dramatically with the wet winter! Only ventured as far as the end of the first field. No rises seen and no hatch evident - 6 trout 6-9" all took a goldbead GRHE - on at least 3 occasions almost as soon as it hit the water though...

Beat:Pontithel - River Llynfi

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Had a few hours on the Llynfi today, water levels up and running fast, clarity ok for nymphing. thought I was gonna be on for a blinder as 2nd cast one of twelve inches to hand then another within a cast or two of ten inches then not a touch for half an hour. then it was mayhem for thirty minutes with six more around twelve inches. again it went quiet for thirty minutes then it kicked off again and had five more in this period two six-eight inches one twelve inches and two stonkers, one of eighteen inches and one of twenty two inches. All taking 2.5mm black beadhead baetis nymphs in the fast water. There were a lot of LDOs on the water but only two rises spotted in the time I was there
