Second day, started at first light and concentrated on the bottom end of the stretch for the day. No action throughout the day, had hopes of a couple of barbel in the last couple of hours (like the previous day) but not to be. Didn't catch a thing. Low river and sunbathing weather didn't help.

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Most enjoyable day, despite the lack of water. The most successful fly being a Green Diawl Bach retrieved slowly in the shallows.
Thank you Allyson for your welcome and invaluable advice,
I will continue to bring clients to fish your waters in
the future.

Water very low and clear, small number of rises but no takes and no fish, my clumsey casting scares them off. I liked the beat and will be back next season. Only fished for 2 hours then moved to lower Longtown for further 3 hours, see other return.

As at lower Escley the water was very low and clear, there were odd fish rising but not taking the dries I offered, switched to nymphs and caught 2 small [6-7inches] and 1 nice grayling 12 " hooked another which got off, [barbless hooks] worth the odd loss to help protect fish from damage.

Second day on Holme Lacey, river still mega low and today we had sunshine for good measure but as can often happen the barbel fed a bit better this time and we managed a slightly more credible 11 barbel and 11 chub again all caught on various pellets. The river desperately needs rain and then should fish brilliantly. Once again it was great to spend a bit of time chatting to Colin and learning more about the river and the fish in it. Finally for this year another big thank you to the W.U.F for making it all possible.

River was very low which severely limited areas worth fishing. 1 barbel last knockings and an eel! Had to fish fine. Lovely piece of water and would fish again when levels are higher (as probably are now). Pity the top boundary ends where it does.
Directions could do with an amendment - taking gate a second sharp left. Local farmer kindly re-directed me and commented he regularly re-directs Wye & Usk bookings looking for Middle court.

A lovely beat which requires some route planning across the rocks to make the most of some cracking pools and glides! The fish were reluctant to show themselves so nymphs were the order of the day. Things started well with a couple of good trout to the net but then a couple of canoeists came splashing their way through my swim!!! Needless to say things went quiet for a while! It was late afternoon when the next fish came to the net and worth the wait it was too a nice grayling of about 1.5lb which took a cased caddis on a quick retrieve, this was soon followed by a few more small fish. All in all a nice day with a few fish on a lovely stretch of water what else can you ask for!(no canoes lol)
