Top field fished due to heavy rain making woods and route to bottom of beat very slippery underfoot. Pellets and meat took fish to 8lb. Late afternoon best.

Sadly the river was in full flow and as dark as black coffee so I called it off.

Arrived at 10:30 to fish till 18:00. Second visit to this stretch of the Wye and a real mystery - conditions were all good for a good days fishing but unfortunetly no fish caught. Bites were few and far between and when the odd one came there were no real "takes".
As I say, a mystery, the fish were there but just didn't seem interested. Anyway it won't stop us revisiting this beautiful part of the world and enjoying the magnificent Wye.

Our first time on this popular venue but unfortunately we were only able to fish a short session due to having to head home earlier than we had planned.
There are certainly plenty of bleak and dace present but due to shortage of time we only caught one good chub.
Whilst we were there a work party was in progress on the opposite bank and a few cars were driving backwards and forwards....like others we prefer to watch kingfishers on the opposite bank rather than traffic...
It is a shame but this fishery will become more pressurised and from what we read on the threads and have experienced this trend could spread further.
We thank the Wye and Usk foundation though and am sure they are considering this matter.

This report is for 2 days, 21st and 22nd Sept. All fish caught on pellets, river quite low for time of year and drifting weed causing constant problems but another fantastic trip, thanks wuf.

Nice beat. Decent access to swims at lower section, but top section in woods virtually inaccessible. Typical stunning Wye scenery. Thanks.

River in nice condition, slightly up. I arrived too late to get my first choice swim, but did manage to find somewhere by the moored rowing boat where a few chub were biting off and on through the day, to pellet and ground bait feeder. The best chub was about five pounds, and in really excellent condition. Nice to meet up with Colin again.

Very cold, breezy, good flow after heavy rain last night. Absolutely nothing showing , and no fly hatching. A blank day in a beautiful spot. Late season growth made access very hard work for this fisherman not in first flush of youth!

Second time on this beat and expected a better return but bright skies seemed to kill it. CH had 3 late on from the beach area and I had 1 at 7.00pm with my last cast while packing up. The fish ranged from 6 to 8.6 lb.
