CP and BS from London fished the beat from 10.45am-1.45pm. Bright morning sun gave was to scattered clouds/overcast. Fished from the lower end of the beat at the confluence of the river with the Lugg. Fishing was a mixture of dry flies and, in some sections, weighted nymphs; fish were caught with both. Size 16 pheasant tail nymphs on faster water, and Czech nymphs deeper in the pools; both caught fish. Fish came on about 12.00pm. 6 wild brown trout and 5 grayling, 12” largest of each.

Beat:Dinas
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
River had a tinge of colour and a little more flow after recent rain. Cloudy, becoming sunny around 1pm. A pleasant afternoon, becoming cloudy again with drizzle at 6pm. Air temp around 15C; water temp 13C.
No insect life and no rise. Tried everything - emergers, dry daddy, nymphs, fry imitators (had had good results with one of these the previous day, on a non WUF stretch). No trout caught! Better luck next time !
2 salmon seen at bottom end of beat.

The river was lower than I had hoped for but looked OK on arrival with a few upwinged flies hatching. I tried nymphs, spiders and dries but had little interest apart from Salmon and Trout parr. Didn't really count the parr but it was quite a lot many of which managed to unhook themselves.

First time for us on this beat. Good water & weather conditions combined to give excellent fishing. Fish taken on a mix of methods - dries / french leader & Klink n dink.
Met up with Shaun the owner, a keen angler himself, who gave us some great local knowledge, and was most helpful - Thanks Shaun. Grayling to approx 2.5lbs & Trout to over 2lbs. Fantastic fishery with good access, safe and secure parking - will def be back soon.
15 Trout, 30 Grayling
