A beautiful evening on the river (thunderstorms held off 'til the drive home.) Greeting from the usual kingfisher. Very sporadic hatch. Only 1 or 2 risers. No sign of salmon today, top or bottom. Rain dance steps a little rusty.

Glorious day on a lovely stretch but the river was exceptionally low. One resident salmon moved at the bottom end of Llanobery. Excellent brown trout in evidence. A quiet morning but fish moving in afternoon sun from 2pm onwards. Three BT taken and returned safely. Congratulations to WUF: a good website, an easy and efficient booking system and helpful staff when dealing with subsequent email questions. Th only tiny glitch is that one right turn is missing from the directions to the beat. All round good experience. Slightly disappointed with The George in Brecon but can recommend Roberto's close by for supper.

A pleasent couple of hours early morning fishing. Caught a couple of wbt on rusty klinkhammer, approx 6 inches long below bridge. Nothing rising on upper stretch and couldn't tempt with nymphs. Water very clear.

Still a lot of weed coming down. Fished the crib and sunk rodtip below the waterline to catch a few fish. Would not fish here again.

Nice stretch and easy fishing in low water conditions. However, most fish were in the 2-3lb range which bodes well for the future.

Arrived at beat at 9am and as others had said the river was very low but as I told the lads the fish are still in there. Buzzards and kingfishers a plenty, what a way to start the day. Tom and Mark started off down stream and me and David went to the top of the beat but couldn't fish the end peg as there was a salmon fisherman down there and we didn't want to be to close. Tom fished just above rope swim and got a 3lb chub and a 1 1/2lb barbel before 11:30am then at 1pm got a 7lb barbel in great nick. These were caught on soft pellets wrapped in paste. Me and David had a few knocks up stream but eventually we moved down stream to the rope swim at around 2pm where David had a 2lb barbel. It was perfection in miniature. I then moved downstream and fished amongst the nettles and got 4 chub up to 3lb all on meat. It was very hot and sunny and it went dead. Me and David went back up to the last peg at the top of the beat, I then had 2 chub of about 4 1/2lb and an eel of over 3lb (hard to guess with eels but was very thick). Then at around 7:45pm, David got a barbel of over 10lb, a lovely fish (caught on 8mm red and black halibut pellets). Tom and Mark were down stream, it was getting dark when Tom who was touch ledgering landed a 10lb barbel of his own. A great end to the day. Mark had struggled to get amongst the fish, but had tomorrow at Sugwas Court to go at, this beat has everything, great scenery plenty of pegs and great access. Mind the ramp on the track down.

Other = dace + 2 perch.
Both anglers spent most of the day trotting or free-lining sweetcorn from the bridge end but were unable to locate any chub or barbel and if we switched to maggots we caught dace. Jim fished for an hour off the rocks on the faster stretch using rolling luncheon meat and caught 1 chub.
We both agreed the beat owner is an absolute star and now we now have more idea how to fish it we will book this beat again.

21 barbel to 5.5lbs, 14 chub to 4lb. Barbel caught mainly in bottom pool but also just below the salmon rock far side immediately below the Wyebank crib. Fantastic day. All fish caught on SMALL pellets fixed to the bottom and very small feeders, not swim feeders which seem to be scaring fish.

Beat:Pwll y Faedda near Erwood

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

8 x grayling 6-15 inches, 8 x trout 6-11 inches, some small chub, parr etc. Most on a size 18 Grey Duster, although all grayling rises stopped when a rather chilly upstream wind started late morning, after which a few came to spiders. River is really down on its bones again and once more we are desperate for rain - although admittedly the situation is not quite as bad as it was in July.

8 Trout, 8 Grayling
