First half of the day roaming the whole beat picking up the odd chub from various swims trotting on the pin before settling in late afternoon in to a swim on the lead. Plenty of chub, ranging from 10oz to a little over 3lb. Average around 1.5. An angler fishing the top half looks to have been using large barbed hooks judging by the mouth damage on 4 chub caught. Couple of bonus barbel around the 5-6lb mark on the lead finished off a good day's fishing.

Just an evening ticket. A lovely beat, water slightly cloudy after recent rain. Access was OK despite an electric fence and the enclosed herd of cattle. (Electric fence proved not to be on, after persuading my wife to test it!) Fish rising on the Ashford bend and then much later on Blockhouse where access is trickier. Fish taking dries, Grey Wulff and small Klinkhammers and later small beadhead pheasant tailed nymph, all barbless. Caught a couple and lost at least a dozen, I found it hard to make them stick in the faster water and most takes were on the far bank.....excuses. Hope to return

This venue is beautiful made more so by the National Trust property opposite.
We arrived at the Weir Garden swim and it looked great, very ‘fishy’. However if turned out to be a really tough day. Very few bites on a variety of methods, perhaps water and / or air temperature to blame (or dodgy angling!!?).
The barbel was a perfect specimen of just under 6lb, all chub were less than 2lb.
There are more productive beats on WUF, and the creation of more swims would be of huge benefit on this beat.

Nonetheless a lovely day.

Water very dirty - I suspect a problem at the Brecon sewage plant.

River like liquid chocolate after rain in previous 12 hours. Waited until pm and tried a duo with sparkly nymph but no takes. Early bath
