water looked much better than it actually fished...a bit too much pace to comfortably control a float through ....few small chub from the margins in the morning and then some better sized fish from rolling a lump of pepperami around in the choppy water where the Lugg comes in

Between us we fished eight swims searching for barbel and failed miserably. Most of the chub were caught on meat but we tried a range of pellets and boilies with feeders or straight leads and nothing could get the barbel interested today it would seem.

Cold night and water temperatures fell. Tricky morning but once the fish were located and the sun warmed things up a bit bites came steadily into the evening.

Beat:White House
Fishing:Coarse

Could only get bites using maggots as bait hence the silvers. Others were 2 roach and 9 dace.
Anglers be aware that White House is a working dairy farm and the track is covered with cow muck so when opening/closing barriers you will get mucky footwear and cover your foot mats in cow s--t. Having 4 wheel drive meant I could just about get back up the track in a normal 2 wheel drive vehicle there was no chance. Upstream of the parking area there are no recognisable swims and another angler was fishing the croy pool although I thought I was the only person booked in for that day? WUF you probably need to supply more relevant info for anglers especially regarding access.

Beat:The Eyton Beat
Fishing:Winter Grayling

Didn't get a line wet! River still very dirty in colour, pushing through and extremely inaccessible due to fencing, overgrown vegetation, closed footbridge. I would have been more determined if the clarity had been better. To add to my disappointment I think I left my 7' Greys 3 wt in the parking area, so if any one comes across it please let Admin know as they are also aware.

Got in the water after lunchtime having sacked off the Eyton beat on the Lugg due to poor conditions. Had a lovely afternoon on this beat, as usual, with a lot of activity to my nymph set up fishing down and across. Lost three good fish but still had plenty to the net. Wind got up after 4 pm which added a distinct chill to proceedings. Had a fortunate 15 minutes accompanied by a very chatty Kingfisher in a close by tree - probably offering me sage advice!

River was in great shape, about a metre ish at Ross and falling with settled weather. Expectations were high but fishing was tough. Tried pellet, luncheon meat and sweetcorn. Lone barbel was about 4 pound and both chub were bigger
