River appeared low and clear. Very bright conditions. Only fished for 2 hours. I suspect evening up to dusk would have proved more interesting. This was more of a fact finding mission with my wife and threat of thunderstorm together with the access around the field caused me to abandon fishing.

The first day of the week with cloud and a bit of rain. I fished a few swims but returning to a previously baited spot produced best result with 4 barbel to 8 1/2lbs plus good size chub. Did lose a good fish to snag. Feeder & pellet tactics.

8pm to 10.30pm. 7 barbel, 6 to 8lb and one that weighed 9lb 10oz all on large halibut pellet. Fish caught from main flow of bottom pool. On arrival caught 3 barbel in 3 casts on same pellet but then had half hour of intense Cob dispute over the new Pen in the area! Angler fishing in day had a hard day but evening produced as usual for the fickle Wye.
I wish to request that anglers consider what happens if they lose tackle. 2 reports so far this year of fish caught with hook, line and swim-feeder attached because the swim-feeder has been stopped both sides. Also anglers using light main lines with heavy break strain braid hook-lengths leaving long lengths of line in the fish and river. A very small majority are letting us down, if you see anglers using these rigs please comment to them.

River was very clear but plenty of flow. A few fish rising throughout the afternoon/evening but no real rise late on. 2 fish (best 1lb) were taken on the dry with the other 2 on deeply sunk nymphs. River bed made wading difficult but no more than lots of other WUF waters - wading sticks are ESSENTIAL. A long beat with plenty of opportunities for different styles of fishing.

River visibility still only about 1 foot. Must be due to warm weather not rain. No fish seen. Expected to be able fly fish after dry period but due to colour used spinners and a large colour full fly due to water colour.

There is some lovely trout fly water on this beat with it at this low level. There was a fantastic hatch yesterday afternoon - was a fairly soft day with some cloud cover - with olives, yellow mays sedges and mayflies amongst the feast on offer to the fish. They didnt seem too impressed however and never settled in to predictable taking patterns - the few we winkled out were with one exception oncers. Silver tourists present too - several flaunting themselves including at least one lunker - above Edw confluence. Its a funny year so far, only 14 fish total out of 10 rod days - its almost as if someone has been training the fish over winter!

Nice fishery, only a little walk for old boys. A good day feeder fishing and I will go back. The river was low and the fish in good condition.
