Fished on a falling coloured river I think another 24 hours would have be spot on.

Managed a 7.5lb barbel from the first swim over the bridge, another smaller fish taken from the next peg down stream.
Spent some time trotting a stick float for a mixed bag including some good dace and small chub. A pleasant day.

River was in excellent condition as it had started to drop off from heavy rain a few days before but was still very coloured.
We chose to fish at the upstream end of the beat and started catching within the first hour and caught steadily throughout the day with average fish around 7 to 8lb and largest 10.5lb.
Heavy groundbait feeder and pellet was the winning method.

An excellent days fishing that we will look to repeat as soon as we can!!

3 caught on spinner in front of the burger van. Very nice size. Best place in wales to fish.
Please consider unlimited fish ticket. Perhaps £20 for the day. Also please do something about people using 3 rods. It is not fair to genuine anglers.

Water was a good height by the time I started fishing and was relatively clear. Unfortunately there did not seem to be any fish about, which was surprising considering the amount of rain that had fallen a few days previously.
Fortunately the two other anglers on the beat that day were very friendly and had interesting fishing tales to relate.

Fished 7th, 8th and 9th October. Only caught 3 barbel between us. Was very disappointing from last year. Stayed at Flanesford Priory. Again very disappointed on the free day Wednesday, as only supposed to be 4 anglers on the entire beat but there were 7 and we could not fish the swims we wanted as paying guests as the 5 others on the beat must have got day tickets from somewhere. Would never use this beat again.

WUF note - The Passport does not sell day tickets for this beat on Wednedays. Please report any possible poaching incidents to NRW on 0800 807060 on the day of the incident or contact the office on 01874 712074.

River conditions very good. Lovely day out even though the fish didn't want to play! Comfortable stay and good food at the Griffin Inn.

A stretch for those who like to stretch (their legs). One of our party who fished right at the top for a while (where he caught the 'other' - a prime gudgeon) estimated he walked 7 miles in total over the day. A nice stretch with a lot of wildlife to see - including an otter putting in a star appearance. Fish caught mainly near pumping station and the obvious swims at the bottom of the fishery.
