Blustery to dead still, lots of fish porpoising/showing when still. Overcast to broken cloud - warm water temperature. Fished 11am - 3:30pm. Nothing on the fly rod but 5 Rainbow trout (1-2lbs in weight) on multiple garden worms (on a size 10 hook) 5 foot under orange bubble float, 12lbs main line to 30cm 4lbs hook link. Lots of additional bites and nibbles, fishing 5-10m out from bank. Returned 3 fish. Kids thoroughly enjoyed safe and easy fishing near fishing permit booth/car park end of reservoir.

Two brown trout to 14 inches and eight grayling to 17.5 inches ,all on dry fly, small olive emergers or sedges. There was a good hatch of bwo and the odd large dark olive as well as plenty of sedge, fish were rising sporadically, but taking the fly confidently when they did. Spotted one cormorant flying downstream.

Good few hours fishing and 2 medium sized trout on nymphs but bank access upstream after the 1st half mile is not easy involving scrambling through woods and over barbed wire fences unless you wade upstream all the way. Dont know if you can access further up river from other locations?

Another nice day on this beat, river was a bit lower and clearer than last week, had one barbel early on, then had a good last couple of hours with some more barbel and a chub of 5lb 10oz.

River low and clear, warm dry day, all fish to pellet. Found a n abandoned rod and reel and assorted litter, presumably evidence of poachers night fishing the previous evening. Think it would be worth stepping up patrols on this stretch. I've it fished many times, never been asked for ticket.

A great evening, started fishing about sixish and packed up at about eightish, having caught a good size Barbel, and four sizable chub all above two pounds. Fished on luncheon meat.
Out of all the beats that I have fished on the Wye I think that this is the best, the farmer has cut steps into the bank and there are quite a few accessible swims.

A warm and bright day, with water low and clear, it was difficult at first but we started to catch late in the afternoon from a couple of swims. A good chat and advice from Colin the ghillie helped (good guy) and we finished with some nice chub to 4lb and barbel to 9lb+. Lovely area and stretch of water. Hope to return soon. Thanks to Seth at WUF for help with late booking on the Friday.

Probably now unfishable without some rain. The river is painfully low and as a result almost still in places, where it does speed up it fails to cover your boots. Lots of fry in the water - caught one about the length of my thumb!

Avoiding the curious cows, who were also out and followed me round the fields, gave another dynamic.

Fished from the start up to the top calmer stretch mainly with heavy bugs (e.g. Golden Nugget); using a 'hybrid' Czech/ French nymph style in the faster water. But I struggled to make things happen, mainly because I'm more competent fishing off my right shoulder (this is left bank water) and, I was occasionally unsteady on my feet among the spicy wading. Did catch one small trout more by accident than design. Tried a dry also on the way up in a few spots but no interest whatsoever; which was frustrating because the river looked perfect. Finished the outing on a dry caddis in the top section of the beat and rounded matters off nicely with three immaculate Grayling, all of about 1.5lbs. I saw a fox, a cormorant, two Red Kites and received some odd looks from the sheep as I sweated my way up the steep meadow on the way back to the car. The deeper pool looks interesting for a return visit.
