Hot sunny day which killed the fishing really. Sporadic, infrequent rises with only a few small trout taken on dries. Superb section of the river though and will definitely return. Thanks to WUF for making all of this possible.

Fished a selection of small flies and then a wooly buggy due to large amount of fry in the margins. Fished during bright sunshine, no fish movement until late in the evening when the light started to fade.

We had an enjoyable day, albeit not quite as productive as some previous visits to this beat, probably due to the hot and bright conditions. My fishing partner beat me 8 to 6 in terms of barbel, although sabotage and underhand tricks helped to tip the balance in his favour.
The lower parts of the beat look a bit different after the winter floods with a couple of dramatic landslips on the far bank, but the barbel are still there.

Water with in surprising good 'nick' at 8" on Fownhope gauge and felt very fishy. Two shows of small class fish and a couple of bumps to the fly is all I have got to report. Good work on the bank, access to pools never been easier. Thank you.

Great days fishing for my son and I. 13 barbel and 6 chub including a new pb for me of 10.5lbs. Fishing was great in the morning but pretty much died in the afternoon. Early evening didn't improve but we had to leave by 7pm.
Still pleased with the overall result. Dust time on this stretch. Have fished Home fishery previously with success but fed up with the walking, so it was nice to have a short walk and settle in to a swim made the day. Booked again for a few weeks time. Hopefully we'll get some rain in the river between now and then, but not too much.

Upstream dry fly. Very bright day. Water very slow above weir. Little sign of fish, possibly some large chub moving deep.
Couldn't stay to fish late.

Salmon of 7 or 8lb from Lower Courtfield between pub and 40mph exit sign. Single hooked small orange/silver Flying C. Quite coloured fish with many spots and off white underside, hooked mid stream on slow retrieve across current. Unhooked in water, swam off strongly.
From the raised deck of our home I have seen groups of grilse moving up shallows by island Friday morning and again around 8am this Saturday. Why they do not go up deeper water behind the Island is beyond me. Not seen this in previous years. Gulls feasting on baby mallards and returning Shad all week.
