Weather and river conditions perfect. Fishing terrible. Fished several swims and tried every bait in the bag for 1 Chub. Several times whilst fishing I was sharing the river with a Cormorant. This also happened the last time I fished this beat. Has any body else noticed an increase in their numbers this winter? A few weeks ago at How Capel Court I counted 13 in the morning.

Lovely venue. Between the two of us we caught 4 grayling to about a pound and a half and 6 brown trout incidentally while trotting maggot on 2lb line, size 16 barbless hooks. All fish returned safely to the water. Beautiful varied beat. The owner provided a more detailed map which was a great help.

Hoped water levels were at a fishable level. sadly they were not. Having never fished this beat before it was impossible to see where fish would hold. Water was running too hard for wading and bank fishing was a waste of time. Nil return but nice looking beat.

Water was still fairly high but dropping so good conditions. Had a good day, 4 Barbel up to 8lb 7oz on feeder and pellet tactics, plus a chub and a pike. Always a lovely place to fish!

15 or so grayling trotting maggots. The grayling were boiling to the maggots at our feet at one stage - fascinating sight. Explored some new parts of the beat this time and must repeat myself from last return to say it's an awesome place. Will be back as soon as possible. Shame about the season rod that we watched lose a fish in a tree - he scarpered but left the line and float hanging there.

Used my season ticket on the Irfon, didn't arrive until after 10 but had a good dozen grayling to around 1lb 4oz. I was the angler mentioned by AF below. I unfortunately had tangled the line in the tree whilst playing a wee grayling. Fortunately the fish shed the hook and I did manage to retrievd my float and line thanks to a very long washed up branch. I then 'scarpered'. I assume AF was insinuating I didn't really didn't have a season ticket.

A tough day for our first visit here with plenty of walking between fishable runs. River has dropped back after recent rainfall and colour falling out by the hour. Still plenty of water though pulling through so wading requires care. Trotting with red maggots produced 9 fish in total including 6 graying to 1lb 14oz. No more than one fish caught in anyone spot and trotting close in produced best results. All fish taken upriver from the churchyard. Wonderful location although rather soggy underfoot today.

A good session on the lower section of the beat. Approx 30 grayling and numerous trout tween us with my pal finding some quality grayling including two of 2lb +. Fish fell to Czech Nymph, Klink/dink but the real damage done with spiders fished over the shallow section. Lovely beat and beautiful looking fish. Salmon pools look fantastic fly water.
River at good level finally. Wouldnt want to fish it with gauge over 0.8 (ddol fm).

River still high but falling. Coloured but clearing. Probably caught river a day too soon but had no other dates available to us so gave it our best shot.
Pike fishing lower stretch, no shortage of swims despite high water. Adopted a roving approach using deads. Disappointed to land just one pike, a low double, but then conditions were hardly ideal. Glad to be on the banks after weeks of interminable rain and stretch looks nice. Will have to come back when levels are lower to assess its full potential.

Caught the river a day or so too early. Although falling was still running high with a lot of colour. One low double Pike on deadbait between us. Difficult to assess beat as we were undoubtedly fishing swims that will not be there when normal levels are resumed but nice looking stretch and our impression is that the beat may well be better suited to barbel/chub anglers. Will be back in better conditions to try our luck again.
