Got to the river around 12.30pm and looked ok but still pulling through hard. Phoned in the booking - £20.75! Bit heavy for 1/2 a day. Anyway, fed a few swims over the bridge with bread mash and 10+ elips pellets in each. Set up just the 1 feeder rod and opted to fish off the fast water rolling the bait through! Nothing 1 1/2 hrs later. Put a 4oz lead on and fished static for another hour! Blank. This was repeated on the 3 lower swims. 4hrs, not a touch so decided to up sticks and move to the bottom swim road side (normally a banker) never fed anything! Fished with bread, meat and pellet, not a sniff! On a poor day like this watching the black vultures work the river you really do wonder "what are they, what are they feeding on and what is their presence doing to the winter fishing" here on the Wye. Hope it picks up by the 16th June.

A very heavy and lengthy burst of rain during the early morning was not welcome!
On arrival the river looked high and fast, but 'fishable', so in I went. During the morning I watched the river rise quite rapidly and with that came lots of debris, changing the water from being relatively clear to the colour of coffee.
I pressed on but saw no fish and caught nothing - but this is still a wonderful beat to spend a day on!
Be back in a few weeks.

Caught one Barbel of 10lb 9oz, on hook bait of home made cheese paste, with a maggot feeder, in high level fast flowing river about 15' from bank. Any further could not hold bottom. A fantastic fish caught (pity only one) on a river devastated by our resent flooding. Well worth the 2hr drive from Devon. Will be back soon to fish further down the stretch.

River rose from 2.5 - 2.75 ft on gauge. Caught + returned 1 x 2.5lb Brown trout on Gold Willie Gunn Tube. No Salmon seen or caught. Lovely water, tricky wading at this height. I will be back later in the year.

Great to be back out fishing on the river with sun on our backs. Lots of bites and a few fish caught. Amazing to see the debris in the trees from the recent floods, banks drying out nicely though. 2 poachers made attempts to fish throughout the day, Adam FIsher was called and the offenderes were removed. Useful bit if info to be able to phone Adam. Thanks WUF.
