River running well and clear. Tried everything from top to bottom without a touch all day. About to pack up at 5 when the sun shone where I was and 1 trout rose. On with a small adams, three rises, 1 at 9" landed to save me from a complete blank! After 15 mins sun went in and the river went dead again. Hope the chap who beat me to the upper beat had a better day!

From past experience we knew this beautiful lake could fish very well on its day. We had also been told that when it is dour, it is pretty dour. This was a something-in-between day with a chilly and variable wind, intermittent showers, and occasional short spells of sunshine. The day showed early promise when one of us took a fish on the third cast and another followed quite quickly. But then there would be long quiet spells with nothing showing at all. In the end we took 10 fish between us, the best two around the 12oz mark. The wind made the eastern shore pretty much impossible all day, so it wasn't always easy to keep moving to undisturbed water - it was certainly a good job there weren't five rods trying to fish it! All the fish came to traditional wet flies: black pennell; green peter; connemara black; and daddy long legs. A great day all in all and well worth the long drive.

A difficult day on a new stretch for us. River was high, coloured and fast flowing. We found two anglers fishing with two rods each when we arrived, poachers perhaps?
The banks were pretty treacherous due to the rain and not all swims were fish able. I blanked, not a bite all day but my friend had 6 barbel to 10lb 14 oz which was his first double from the Wye.Two more trips to Caradoc booked in the next couple of weeks, hopefully better days to come!

Ideal conditions with the water level just below the croys, however didn't see any salmon nor catch any.
