Area:Middle Wye

Beat:Sugwas Court

Fishing:Salmon

No. of Anglers:2

No fish caught or seen river was low, unable get to the top or bottom of Sugwas due to no styles at bottom end and no foot stool on the part by the orchard making very hard to climb over.
Accommodation - stopped at Cannon Bridge House, very nice cottage very clean and owner ver pleasant
I must say that l was disappointed after l booked the water to find that l was fishing the other side of the river.I find it unfair that you can only have the directions to where you are fishing after you have paid, bearing in mind l do not live in the area and travel over 80 miles for salmon fishing which l am new to.

WUF note - The beat description in the Passport and on the Website does clearly state 'Just over one mile of 'left bank' fishing a few miles above Hereford'.

Although a warm (hot) generally clear day, fishing was tough with the river very low and clear and very little fly life, although there was a very good hatch of Sedge in the evening around 8pm - this excited us far more than it did the fish, however. No interest to various methods used (duo, dry, spiders, French nymph) apart from the two fish caught - one grayling of about 1/2 lb to a midge pattern and one trout of just under 2 lb to the nymph. Still one of my favourite beats - one day will hit it right!
