Fished feeder and pellet without a bite. River very low and clear. Also tried trotting single maggot again no bites. Lovely looking beat but suspect the fish have all moved into deeper water. The £5 farmers taxi down to the river is a must and money we'll spent! Nice day, also spotted a wild mink at the bottom peg under the fallen willow tree.

7 x grayling 15-16 inches, 19 x out of season trout 7-14 inches, long trotting. The river still cold and clear, dropping slowly about 1 inch per day. As at Ty Newydd a couple of days ago, it seemed to be necessary to wade through large numbers of pushy, pugnacious out of season trout before being able to work the much shyer grayling. But the grayling here were worth waiting for: lovely fish at 15 and 16 inches.

7 Grayling

I have been lucky with the weather on both my visits to Abernant with today being mild, overcast and windless.I started at the spot that produced the fish on my previous visit but only managed a couple of Grayling in the first hour. I then moved down to the shallow gravels and found lots of taking fish despite the shallow water.
I did not find any of the larger fish with the largest of the Grayling about 1lb 4ozs and had about 15 out of season trout. This beat seems to contain a very healthy stock of fish. Very enjoyable day. NB, this was all on trotted maggot, I tried some bread for a while to try and attract a chub but with no success.I also had a tiny Grayling attach itself at my feet while I was fiddling with my reel.

This was my first visit to the Lugg and I would certainly return. The river was at a nice height and carrying just a little colour. I fished with Czech nymphs and caught fish in several places. Most were around the half pound mark with one well over a pound and possibly close to two pounds, I also caught some very small three inch long grayling. The bottom section is very fishable and this is where I caught most fish. The top section was very different. It is extremely overgrown with trees across the river and bankside access nearly impossible, I could have done with a machete and a chain saw! There were three goosanders in the river and I also saw a salmon jump. A great days Fishing!

4 Trout, 13 Grayling

River in perfect condition, unfortunately my fishing skills weren't. Spent the day pike fishing and although the river was spot on, I didn't catch. Wish I had taken my Barbel and Chub gear instead!

Went pike fishing but no fish, great stretch lots of pegs but lots of walking would recommend little tackle as possible.

River very low and clear. Good looking conditions. I should have fished on the lower part of the beat and found some deeper water but only had half a day.
Nil caught beautiful location and I will be back. There is now a sign on the fence at the car parking area.

Beautiful venue with some great swims. Weather conditions were spot on and the river looked great too. We started in the last peg on the stretch, fishing into the edge of the large slack. We sat here feeder fishing with maggots for the best part of 4 hours without a touch. We then moved to the opposite end of the river and had a similar result. We spent the last hour of the day pike fishing and managed a pike each. 16lb 12oz and another of 10lb 12oz both taken on dead baits presented close in.

I wanted to fit in a trip to the Wye before the cold weather set in but apart from the pleasure of being on the river, there isn't much to report. The water looked good and I fished six hours with various baits but the fish refused to respond. A frost the previous night seems to have killed things off and I blanked. Happy Christmas to all at WUF and thanks for some excellent fishing during 2013.

Fished the first 2 pegs on the right bank, used a wide range of baits (from maggots to pellets). Only caught 2 chub on maggots. River was low and clear.
