Dull day, dull black/gold 1" copper tube fished on intermediate tip took both fish with some induced movement required as water very low but much cooler than previous visits. First midweek visit to Wye and no canoes. A very pleasant day despite the rain.

This beat is not of the quality described in the passport and is fairly limited in extent. The 'walkway' is largely broken up and a large part of it has fallen in the river. The river bed is boulders not gravel making wading difficult, and the beat was poorly maintained with the steps from the car park overgrown with brambles.
Despite the recent rain the river is as summer level and there was no sign of fish.

A difficult day on this water with heavy rain for several hours making the pathway difficult. One of us fished the end peg all day for 6 chub and 1 small barbel while the other used roving method for a less than successful single chub. River came up several inches during the afternoon.

River low and clear as expected although did rise by around a foot in afternoon which seemed to coincide with more bites. Single Barbel of 6lb from lower pool plus 4 Chub with a further 5 Chub to pool in middle of beat all fell to meat bait either rolled or ledgered.

1 Barbel, 9 Chub

Dreadful weather with strong downstream wind pushing torrential rain. I quickly gave up and sat reading in my car until the promised break in weather. This arrived at about 3 pm. I quickly raced back and saw rising fish above the bridge below the rocks.Initial offering of grey duster refused but a quick change to klinkhammer immediately brought two trout of 15" to net. A third trout of 9" soon followed but so did the strong wind and heavy rain. The eye of the storm had passed in less than 45 minutes.
