2 rods fishing a good variety of pegs caught 9 Barbel and 3 chub, all on pellet feeder. A lot of pegs that have been successful in the past not so good on the day. River carrying a bit of extra water but fairly clear.

What great surroundings to spend a day off work! Sadly couldn't get the grayling to come & join me. 2 trout to 13 ins returned safely . Lots of leaves on & in the water, my excuse! Will return soon.

The access track to the bottom of the beat looked very dicey in the wet conditions so we set out on the long walk to the top swims, down through the woods. It was a quiet day despite the river looking in perfect condition but we did manage four barbel and a sprinkling of chub between us on the usual pellet and feeder.

River and weather in perfect condition, only problem was the leaves drifting down stream. After trying meat, corn, mini boilies and pellet all morning with no joy the concern was would we catch. Luckly the afternoon produced 5 barbel to 9lb, no surprise on pellet. What a great setting to fish in and will return.

River in good condition today, although increasing amounts of weed and leaves in the flow as the day went by. 5 barbel taken to 7lb and 4 chub on a variety of baits.

Area:Lugg & Arrow

Beat:The Leen

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

Overcast mild misty day, Arrow at 0.32mtr. 10ft light action trotting rod and centre-pin, short float to 16 hook with 2 maggots. Caught 2 Grayling, largest a good pound and half which put its sail up for a sporting fight. Both caught in deeper glides well above bridge.
I finished angling early at 14.30 having tried various places as ratio of out of season Trout to Grayling was far to high (I caught and returned 30 plus, 3 in first 3 casts in weir pool !)
An excellent beat, perhaps a little shallow for controled trotting and plenty of barbed wire to climb over. Recommend take patches for waders. I would however definitly return if I knew the answer to limiting the number of out of season Trout! Anyone ?

Misty moisty morning after a 3am get up. Arrived to find the river higher than I expected. Careful monitoring of online info persuaded me to give it one last go before serious Winter set in. Started off in swim below Vanstone Pool and fourth cast had what felt like a good fish on before the hook straightened out (so much for the manufacturers extra strong boast). Very hard work from then on and I worked my way swim by swim downstream trying all manner of baits. Eventually managed one barbel around 6lb before getting a pike rod out and fishing one of the slacks. Not a sniff.
Anyway glad I made the trip, satisfied my curiosity and got there. The river and surroundings were beautiful, I watched a kingfisher fish for at least half an hour and had a cheeky mink for company. I also pike fished on the Wye, something I have yearned to do for a long long time. Happy to squelch off back to the car for a long drive home. Will return but probably not until next Summer.

Fished the lower end of the beat and were fishing for barbel. 1 rod had 1 chub at 4lb 5oz and other rod had 1 pike at 14lb 4oz and 1 chub at 4lb. Lovely part of the river even though no barbel banked.
