Just dropped in for a few hours on a windy afternoon hoping to hit a mayfly hatch. Water levels quite "user-friendly" with the Tafalog guage on the Honddu at 0.31m for guidance. Fished through fairly quickly and didn't find too many rising fish. Surprisingly few mayfly, but enough to get fish looking up and took all fish on a mayfly pattern - all about 8 - 10 inches.

We booked 3 beats for the day and had so much fun on the other two that we had virtually no time on this beat. A fews casts into the first pool up from the confluence produced a lovely trout and then we were off. Will come back and fish it properly next time.

A very enjoyable couple of hours spent on this delightful small stream. I only had time to fish up to the sewage works but managed two lovely wild browns of 10 inches and one of 8 inches. It was a warm day with loads of fly hatching but not many fish rising so caught all fish on a small upstream beaded hares ear nymph. I think just the right amount of trimming has taken place making the fishing challenging which is what wild stream fishing is all about. I would just add it would be helpful if there was some help in passing the in-stream live stock gates as these were quite challenging in waders rod in hand etc.

Several to hand, took most on size 16 nymph until a half decent amount of Olives started to bring them to the surface. Took a fair few to an Olive dry.

Only the occasional rise and not a lot of fly life. Four healthy and energetic WBT's, 7-9 inches, brought to hand and returned before ripped waders (watch that barbed wire) brought things prematurely to an end. A lovely little beat. All rises and takes were to a small Parachute Adams.

The promised rain didn't really arrive so we enjoyed a reasonably full day fishing this beat. The access work carried out by the volunteers is impressive. We caught plenty of fish with 3 being around 12-14" and missed quite a few snatchy bites. All came to small tungsten nymphs fished in the heads of the pools. Only saw a couple of very small fish rising despite a trickle of olives throughout the day.

3 fish of 6-8 inches, 4 of 10-12 inches all in really good condition. All fish on sawyers nymph from the bodies of pools early on and by 1pm they were coming from the necks. Not more than a handful of olives hatching. Beautiful little river.

5 x trout 8-11 inches on a Tungsten Hare's Ear. Despite warmish weather, wild daffodils etc on the banks, trout in this upland stream were still in winter mode - lying on the bottom of the deeper and slower pools, most reluctant to rise. So it was all about weight and I used a much heavier nymph than usual to get any takes at all. Nothing hatching today, but I'm sure it will improve shortly.
