A return visit to this beat, once more trotting for the grayling. A crisp sunny Autumn day, lots of sunshine and a bit windy. River at 0.35m and clear. Lots of leaves, etc, in the water made fishing the stick a tad difficult.
Brownies much in evidence in the shallower runs, so moved into the deeper glides above the bridge. Two grayling caught, best about 12 inches, one good fish lost.
Once again a great day out on a delightful river in some beautful countryside. We will be back again soon...

Beat:The Upper Clochfaen

Fishing:Winter Grayling

Water levels up a little but generally no restrictions on accessability. Very windy making casting tricky but managed to take 5 out of season trout on pink-arsed nymphs, no grayling. Best fish 10-12". Bitterly cold in the wind.

River looked good and was rising slowly after some cold overnight rain. In water visibility of around 8". 3 Chub to 3lbs from the upper end, 2 Pike to low doubles and 2 Barbel, biggest 8lbs 12oz on pellet feeder/boilie combo.
First time on this very scenic stretch.
