Area:Lugg & Arrow
Beat:Hindwell - Knill
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
1 small trout on a weighted nymph and a decent sized one on a dry fly. Several others hooked and lost on a variety of dry flies. Shallow clear water and the sun being out made it quite difficult to avoid spooking the fish.

Not an easy beat to fish and no fish rising. Had to fish very heavy nymph in fast water but if they were there you got a fish straight away. On the plus side I got my best wbt 2 lb from the usk.

A car was already parked in the parking space and I could not decide whether it was a fisherman or not (nothing on the dash-board) so I decided to try the Upper beat. The water still carries some colour but the trout are becoming interested in taking flies on the surface. All manner of insects were hatching including Mays and sedges. I caught two trout one at 14" on a sedge and the other at 11" on a spider. A better fisherman would have converted a number of other bites and rises but I had a very enjoyable time.
