Two salmon, one est 8lbs one est 14lbs both from Wharf pool to devon minnow between 7 and 7.45am.
Perfect morning on Wyebank before sun broke through clouds and water at 1ft4" cleared magically from yesterday and looking fantastic.
A particular thank you to the lone kayaker working upstream along the near bank who, rather than come into my cribs, turned and went back downstream to paddle around 250 yards downstream.
A lot of salmon have been seen passing through Courtfield the last few weeks and numerous fish seen two days ago early evening just above the Legg meadow crib.

A last minute decision as I was visiting the Royal Welsh Show. David at the Foundation and Mike the fishery owner couldn't be more helpful sorting my requirements. Arrived at 5.30am and was instantly impressed with beat allocated & looking forward to a hard morning fishing. Problem was the Gods had better idea! Long story but broke top tip of rod so never made a cast. So sadly not much to report apart from reaffirming its an excellent fishery and in the time I was there saw a few silver tourists just to rub it in.
Will be definitely revisiting the beat again and this time take more than one rod lol.

Beat:The River Dore, Turnastone

A beautiful sunny afternoon. The river carried a little colour this may have been due to cattle in the river 200 yards upstream. Second cast a small brown trout came to a spider pattern but released. All in all ten trout to hand. Best four 12 inches.

Didn't catch or see a salmon at all. Did land a 2lbs chubb from The Run. I fished hard from 2pm - 8.30pm. The weather was dead against me with heat and bright sun right into the evening. My first visit to this beat and although the water was fading for the top pools, I was really impressed with the variety further down the beat. Cast the fly in most of them. Just seemed a bit quiet on the fish front.

Directions to the beat were clear and simple. On arrival we all walked the beat from top to bottom before we decided where to fish. On first impressions I was very annoyed, only four pegs at the top end available marked by wooden posts and the bottom end (rope area) two pegs available, with the whole bank being covered in nettles and brambles, access without a strimmer is dangerous and adventurous. After the initial thought of why did I travel 165 miles to fish this venue, by the end of the day, T managed to catch 10 barbel from one peg and C caught two barbel and several chud. I only managed one chub in the morning and my Dad struggled all day. I can honestly say I would not book this beat with so many rods as only two performed but I will look at other WUF waters.
