None caught but still an enjoyable day with interesting pools. 1 decent salmon followed my flying c into the bank in the top pool but couldn't get him to take. Very hot day with the normal Sunday canoe traffic. Handily situated pub in between the lower and upper beats.

Blazing day. Deep wading. Lovely location. But blanked. Still getting to grips with Usk tactics. Great grannom rise 10-11 plenty of decent fish about but not for my sedge, CDCs, dusters, tups, iron blues, or later, PTNs or Hare's Ears. Hard work!

What an amazing setting! I drove past the two other Taff reservoirs which both seemed deserted fishing-wise - whereas there were quite a few people dotted all around Llwyn On. I parked up halfway down the west side - plenty of parking right around the lake.

I'd decided just to take spinning gear. Guess what - first cast, fish straight on! Using a little Vibrax spinner. Quickly to net and as it wasn't a massive fish and I was to be spending the rest of the day out I returned it. Maybe this was a mistake because there wasn't much more action for me that day!

I gradually made my way right around the lake and the only other interest was near the dam (east side) where I lost one at the net.

A fly angler had apparently had great results and most of the locals seemed to be using worms, some to good results - one guy ledgering pulled two out in very quick succession while I was near him. None of the fish I saw were very big - 1lb to 1.5lb probably.

Great day though.
Recommend not hanging around the car parks after dark - noticed 'strange' characters turning up as I was packing up and it seems like Llwyn On is a site for certain unsavoury outdoor pursuits (night time ones)!

Crystal clear water with plenty of flies in the air. Trout not interested in dries yet, only two fish spotted rising so nymphing most of the day with some success. Three trout netted 9-10” and one 15-17” lost after short fight. All fish returned unharmed. Lovely spring day, very interesting beat, definitely I will be back later in the season expecting nothing less than fishing eldorado.

Thanks to WUF, thanks to David fishery owner for a great day out.

1 BT about a pound C&R'd early on via a Deer Hair Emerger and that was it! Couldn't get a sniff on nymphs. Water low and clear with sunny, warm conditions. As K from Brum said, plenty of fly in the air but not much hatching. Lovely fishery but wading dicey in parts.

Never blanked at the USK reservoir two times in succession but did it today. I wasn't the only one though, none of the other anglers were catching anything either and all legal methods were being employed. I am beginning to think this water fishes better late in the season, but I will try again shortly.

Very bright and warm conditions.

I could catch 1 Grayling and 3 trouts as follows. Grayling - 42cm with Sedge. Brown trout - 26cm, 20cm and 18 cm all with Sedge. Very low water, and difficult to catch.

Water low and clear, bright sun all day. Two small brown trout, one fell off at the bank! Both on the holy grail. There were a few fish rising, but no takes from the top. I'm not the greatest fly caster and found the overgrown conditions difficult so did not really cover the rising fish, a better caster would have caught more I'm sure. A really nice beat that could be much improved by some major bank work.
