Beat:Courtfield

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:2

1 X chub2.5l bs. Very slow with virtually no bites - possibly due to drop in temperature. Locals weren't catching either. Beautiful section of river with some great looking swims. Will try again in better conditions.

Glorious autumn day, but alas no sign of any Salmon. Still, managed two Grayling, one on an Ally's Shrimp and the other on a Silver Stoat! Saw Kingfishers, Dippers, Herons, Buzzards and Mergansers. I could always take up birdwatching!

Had a very enjoyable day caught plenty of grayling and the odd trout, fished a combination of nymphs and drys (pheasant tails and klinkhammer). One of the grayling had a nasty cormorant scar on it's back, all fish were returned safely.

Thought I would try the 'late salmon' possibilities on this river. Nothing doing with salmon, though during the day I saw one jump in the pool midway along the beat & others saw movement in Junction pool near the Cammarch hotel. Eventaually changed to grayling and caught two, best one 15 inches, both on nymphs. Very bright & eventually warm - very sporadic rises but couldn't interest a fish.
On Sunday fished GoFynne (B16) again for a mixture of salmon & grayling possibilities. A beautiful beat with very friendly owners. Lots of wild life. Again very bright & only 1 grayling, 8-10ins, on a nymph for the days effort. Saw salmon jumping in the big pool at the bottom of the bridleway - owners son say they are seen there regularly but very rarely caught. Stayed at the Cammarch Hotel and was very well looked after by Kathy & her daughter - my wife and I really enjoyed the friendliness of the place & would recommend it. Many thanks also to the booking office staff who were, as usual, spot on with their suggestions for where to fish.
