Fished pm and early evening. Inclement weather including rain and high wind meant hatches lasted minutes. One fish each caught, one small brown and one brown of approx 12 inches, to nymph and klink respectively. River had autumnal debris, presumably due to slight rise and debris blown on to water. The odd fish was rising, but klink brought fish up.

Beautiful Beat, difficult access in places. River extremely low, no fish even seen, nothing rising or even spotted in deeper pools.

Having had rain overnight, the water level improved things greatly. 27 fish caught between the three of us (22 trout, 5 grayling) ranging from 6oz - 1 3/4 lb (all returned), all taken on olive emergers or GRHE. A great days fishing!

Fantastic beat with some lovely pools and gravel glides. The top section of the beat in particular is one long gravel glide of knee to waist depth (in low water!). Fish were rising all day as it was generally overcast, warm and quite still. Landed 18 fish and lost a further 4-5. A couple of fish were 5-6", the rest were all 9-12". Most of the fish took either a large size 12 Wyatt's deer hair emerger, or small size 16-18 Adams. Saw a couple of fish, including one that swam past literally four feet away, that were 2lb+. Some of the beat is quite deep and can't be waded, however this no doubt creates ideal habitat for larger trout. Was preparing for an epic spinner fall in the evening with the air thick with small olives and a few true mayflies. However, bang on dusk a storm rolled in and everything retreated back to the leaves and trees!

With very little water in the river it made for an interesting day. 10 fish caught between the three of us, the largest a brownie of 10oz and a grayling of 1lb (all returned). Abernant is a stunning location to spend a days fishing.

River low and clear but guess what? It rained - most of the day! Just that nuisance type welsh rain, not enough to affect the river but enough to wet us through!

Fishing was tough. A steady stream of brook duns and sporadic olives and pale wateries throughout the day kept the fish interested but they were very spooky! 4 fish between us - 3 small ones and one Penpont Porker of 17 inches - a very well conditioned fish. The fish are all there but the water is so low that in places they are lying in little more than their own depth so extreme caution is needed for success - and fish under the trees!
