Very hot and sunny Sunday afternoon and the world and his wife were on the river, but it is amazing how quickly everyone disappeared! By about five when the river started to look good again I had it back to myself. Wyebank is a lovely bit of fly water and a joy to fish even with my limited casting ability. No fish seen but did have a good put towards the bottom of the beat. Saw the biggest hatch of olives I've ever seen!

Rainbow Trout x 1. Weight 24ozs. Caught on worm near the main car park, A470 side of the reservoir. I think it was suicidal as that was the only bite we had all day. Caught

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:Llangoed
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:2
I guided on Llangoed. 2 adult anglers. Fish rising in the lower section in the early morning, then hardly any activity. Very sparse fly life. Catch was 2 brown trout, one grayling, one shad (accidental by-catch). All returned. A large number of shad seen moving in the river.
Water temperature started at 64, rose to 66 by mid-day and 70 by late afternoon (Orchard Pool). This is an extraordinarily high temperature and I fear it is very stressful for trout and grayling. The one grayling caught came from deep water in the Orchard and took a long time to revive.
