First time at this ocation. Stared fishing at 09.30 on the east bank but was put off by the constant roar of traffiic on the A470. The east bank area was crowded with static, uncommunicative worm fishers.
Moved round to the quieter west bank and the fishing was punctuated by the arrival of a helicopter collecting water from the res. in order to deal with a significant fire close to the Hirwaun / Storey Arms road, Three good quality rainbows caught and kept, ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 lbs. Weather warm, bright and clear with a fresh southerly breeze.
A pleasant days sport on the west side but will avoid the east bank on a future visit.

4 trout caught - best 1 lb. Hot very sunny and very few olives hatching or any other upwings. The fish that were rising were smutting so a bit 'challenging' but great fun and enjoyable day had. Fish caught mainly on size 22 black gnat.

Stunning day in this remote location - fish rising all day, taking the fly life that was being gently disturbed from the marginal reeds. Between 2 of us we had about 20 of the special little 'black finned' trout of Bugeilyn. Biggest was about 10" but they all fought like bigger fish. You could catch as many fish as you have time for on this lake - eventually they would rise and take your fly. We used small pale klinkhammers on long leaders, and even though a light wind there was a drift to be used. Would recommend evryone fishes here at least once - we will be back!

Very hot even at 5pm - fish were starting to rise on the flats from around this time. Caught several trout to 10" in the fast water below the Gravel catch - all on a GRHE. Also caught dace, chub and a decent grayling around 12" on a kilnkhammer from the flats. Could have stayed all evening as felt it was really getting going around 6pm. Lovely beat as always, and will be back to target the bigger trout seen from Boughrood Bridge.

Two tiny brown trout on a nymph, returned. Very warm and sunny day. Cattle a menace; one ran towards and then charged at me as I walked round a group that were by the river around 30 yards away from me (I ran and got behind a clump of trees); groups occasionally approached me when I was wading near to a slope into the river.

Bought permit at Cwmbran angling as instructed but they were unable to provide directions or advice on parking? I began wading from ST 307 936 and after passing through a rectangular concrete culvert I came across a pipe discharging raw sewage so I gave up wading! I have reported this to the EA and they are investigating under Ref: 878391
WUF NOTE: This exactly what anglers should do when spotting potential pollution. We will make enquiries into the lack of information on directions and parking.

Fantastic trout stream. There were trout on the surface feeding throughout the beat. I caught and released 12 fish all between 1/4lb and 1/2lb and all in top condition. Despite their size they put up a good fight and frequently went airborne. Top sport.
