Have had a couple of enjoyable lunchtime sessions on the home turf. LDOs from about 11.30 until 1.30 with trout and grayling rising. None with any consistency, given the trickle hatch, but enough to give away their locations. Some clearly taking duns but most not, so presumably on nymphs and emergers. Some seriously fit grayling and trout over a pound, and other smaller fish, taken on various LDO dun and emerger patterns. The sun on your back and spring is sprung - don't you just love it!

Arrived to find a beautiful river, on probably too bright a day! Gin clear water, but plenty of deep runs. Not much in the way of cover, but nice to be able to cast with freedom. there was a rise at lunch time but no fish activity. The only fish I saw all day were fry. A huge thanks to the foundation for sourcing such a stunning stretch. It just needs to be fished in better conditions (or by a more accompilshed Fisherman!)

An early morning frost resulted in a very sparse LDO and march brown hatch, and consequently very little fish activity (only saw one rise all day). The river was very low and clear for March, and the bright sunshine meant that the trout probably saw me coming from a mile off. I tried a variety of nymphs, spiders and dries but no fish caught. The catch return book mentioned 1.5-2 lb trout being caught on PTNs the week before so the fish are definitely feeding. This is a lovely beat, with easy wading and some nice riffles and glides. I plan to return later in the season when there's a bit more water in the river. N.B. I saw a mink on the opposite bank, just downstream from where the Cynrig joins the Usk.

No fish caught, but lovely day out. Water low and clear, this coupled with blue skies made the trout we saw very skittish. Had a hatch of olives but only saw one fish rise in the day. W&U foundation very helpful.

I have had a disappointing day, river very low and clear. No fish caught, no sign of fish on the whole of the beat.

The Dore was at a good height with a typical tinge of colour, 50% cloud cover and relatively warm weather. Early rises to emerging buzzers followed by lull and then LDO from about 11.30 building to a good hatch by 12.30. A few fish rising to them, in the shallower pools, below sunny riffles. One 11" trout and a few misses on a #14 cdc olive emerger.

A perfect spring day. Birds on the wing, lambs in the fields and flies hatching off from around 10 until 14.00. The fishs' attention had been caught by the insects and were rising from time to time, if not consistently. I caught three fish, two of 6 to 8 oz and a third thumping great big beast of around 3lb. Too large to fit my 21" net. The fish all took a dry fly. An excellent beat, quiet lots of variation and good radio reception for listening in to England once again just scraping through a cricket match! A great day.

Cold, dull day but sporadic hatches of large dark olive after 1pm, and a few march browns mid-afternoon. One grayling on GRHR gold head, and 3 grayling and 2 trout (to 1.5lb) on Kites Imperial and Klinkhammer.
