14 x trout, 6-12 inches, on spiders. A better than expected result, as the temperature remained around 5 degrees all day with a desperately cold downstream wind. There was quite a heavy large dark olive hatch after lunch, truly the "cold weather" fly, but I didn't see a single fish rise to an adult on the surface. The big fish didn't show, but quite a number around 10-12 inches were prepared to come up to spiders fished in the top 6 inches, so I presume they were intercepting the emerging nymphs. A good day, if chilly.

Very wet start and difficult conditions but within the first hour three smashing chub up to 4lb were landed. Nothing after, but well worth the effort especially as it was my sons first chub ever and he got two! Definitely a venue to go back to.

Lovely beat with lots of recent maintance being carried out. The weather was not great but the snow on the black mountains reminded me how cold it was. I did not catch or see any fish which was a shame.

What a change in conditions from last week, cold and wet! fished quite well all morning but no takers. SK was coarse fishing and managed to find some barbel at the bottom of the beat. We ended up with a couple and a bag of chub before the weather got the better of us.

First time on this beat - well impressed by the swims, lots of them, good access (take a rope with you for those high and slippy banks, tying off posts at top of most pegs). Really good mixture of water, fast, steady and slow glides. Slow and deep on the lower section. Spent the day deadbaiting for pike but alas they were not playing today. Tried a bit of lure fishing as well. As well, next time.... Thanks all at w&uf

A successful first outing of the 2012 season yesterday with 3 trout caught and 1 lost, all of about 1lb and in lovely condition. Taken on CDC emergers and duns during a decent LDO hatch, but which was localised to the faster water about 70 yards upstream of the bridge. Flies started to appear at around 12.30pm with the hatch at its most intense at around 1.30pm. It was all over by 2.15pm.

Heavy rain during the night and morning of our fishing, turned a lot colder - water relatively clear, but banks very slippery. Slow day, only a couple of chub. Will go back.
Adam and Allyson of W&U great help as it was our first time on this beat - thanks to both of you.
