3 x grayling 6-16 inches, 12 x out of season trout 6-12 inches, fishing short nymphs. A day of fog and rain, but temperature still in double figures. One good grayling here, but it was the unseasonable trout which were really to the fore, occupying the feeding lies at heads of pools. One salmon redd seen. Unlike the trout, it seems they know what they should be doing.

8 or 9 grayling upto 1 1/4lb plus a couple of very small trout. Mixture of dries and nymphs. Pretty tough day on a beautiful stretch of water.

I fished Saturday and Sunday and caught 25 chub from 2lb to 4lb 4oz, also 3 Barbel 5lb 14, 6lb 10, and 8lb 10. All were caught on pellet from beats 3, 4, and 5. I had an excellent trip it was well worth the 4 hour drive. I met Ian at first light to show me around and he also gave me some tips. Looking forward to the next time.

One fish was caught: 12lb 4oz pike on a lure.
The scenery at this location was fantastic but we were disappointed at the lack of access to the river from the bank. We found only 2 locations, one at the start and also the build out at the end of the beat. “Plenty of spots to access the water” is an inaccurate statement for the average angler.

Instructions on the website, of how to get to the beat and the extent of where it is, before you book the tickets would be helpful to assist in judging the beat’s suitability through viewing Google Earth. WUF NOTE: as preferred by owners, beat limits are not given out prior to making a booking - if you wish for a more detailed location of a beat please contact the Booking Office on 01982 560788.

We had to rescue a drowning sheep by hauling it up a steep bank at risk. It would have been helpful to have a contact number for the owner of the land in case of an emergency.

We will be using your service again.

13 x grayling 12-15 inches, 8 x out of season trout 8-12 inches. Another mysteriously warm and balmy November day, with a lot of cloud, Irfon running slow and clear. About half the fish taken on the dry fly, although many grayling only prepared to boil under the fly. The rest on nymphs with a French leader.

1 X 14" Grayling + a handful(!) of fingerlings and one o/s WBT. All fish returned safely. Nice venue.

River running 2 ft lower than a couple of weeks ago. Some colour in it but not much, no rubbish coming down. One barbel of 3lb on pellet in mid afternoon and 2 chub on meat at dusk; very slow day but good to be out nonetheless. Back next week for another go.

Same approach used as last Saturday. However the river was colder this weekend, and the barbel were not very active. One take at 15-00 resulted in an 8lb 02oz barbel, the only action of the day.

A great days fishing with conditions perfect. We caught over 30 grayling mostly of good size, around the pound mark with a few fish 1.5 to 2 pounds. All fish fell to trotted maggot under 7 AA clear avon floats fished with centrepins in realatively fast water along the upper half of the beat. This was our first visit to the Irfon and what a fantastic river it is. We will be back as soon as possible. Many thanks to the WUF for a superb days sport.
